He has served on the board of trustees of the Cleveland Police Historical Society since 2001. His previous books for The Kent State University Press include Twilight of Innocence: The Disappearance of Beverly Potts (2005), Though Murder Has No Tongue: The Lost Victim of Cleveland's Mad Butcher (2010), and Hell's Wasteland: The Pennsylvania Torso Murders (2013). He is currently working on a book devoted to the unsolved 1964 murder of 16-year-old Beverly Jarosz in Garfield Heights just outside of Cleveland.
First, I think newcomers to the series might feel that Jackson and Celia give in to each other a little bit too soon in the book. For the most part, ham operators operate from their personal stations. So I am delighted that a book which really did seem to be encompassing Everything (including what today we call dark matter) was so utterly up-ended as soon as it became available.
I don't think Gribbin would feel his essential messages were refuted thereby, however. The book should be updated about food we should and should not eat, good fats and oils, fermenting etc., but it was probably typical of much of the information at the time it was first written. The full color photographs are stunning. As a survey of the applications of differential forms to various aspects of the physical sciences, this book works quite well. She loves Thomas and these books get read again and again. I loked other Shinn books so was surprised when this one was so poorly done. Likewise, racing drive
