The story opens with the Duke of Olympia's personal secretary, Miss Emmeline Truelove overseeing his funeral and then called aside to hear of a 'mission' from the now Dowager Duchess. The concepts are well grounded and thoroughly researched. More than just a valentine to swing, THE SWING BOOK is highly informative and entertaining. There was even, in the later days of the investigation, a black man found carting a barrel of human body parts down into the Kingsbury Run area. However, fans of the series will quickly recognize that their strange courtship, dancing the fine line between animosity and attraction, has been played out over the course of four previous novels, and as such, it didn't feel rushed to me at all.
