Editorial : About the Author JANETTE SEBRING LOWREY (1892-1986) wrote mostly teen fiction during the 1940s and 1950s. Her young adult novel Margaret was adapted into a TV serial, Walt Disney Presents: Annette, which aired on The Mickey Mouse Club in 1958, starring Annette Funicello. But Lowrey is best known as the author of The Poky Little Puppy, the bestselling picture book of all time (18 million copies).
Brad Garrett's writing shows an ability to understand a child's viewpoint and craft his words to convey values that make these much more than just children's sports books. It is a memoir marked by pain, but also, an enduring love. The book is full of information but the organization of each chapter leaves something to be desired. I started reading it right away when it came and was unable to put it down before devouring the first hundred pages. Because of too much detail at times, a focus on some gruesome history of Wales, and a slow moving story, I call this one "tedious".
Her Slightly series, the Simply series, the Survivors series - all are highly exceptional in their portrayal of Regency England! They move well, have good character development, have fairly unique plots and are just very readable and enjoyable!! My aunt got me started on the Slightly series, which I loved. Foyt, Parnelli Jones or Fireball Roberts who drove like bulls in a china shop and could grab any racecar b
