At 200+ pages, this book covers quite a lot of subject matter. Did I read it, dream it or live it?. No spoilers, of course, but I know I for one got great satisfaction of finally finding out the truth behind their deaths, and I think newcomers wouldn't appreciate the mystery as much.

Overall, I adored it. Avon Gale does a masterful job of mixing the foul-mouthed joy of hockey with very authentic characters. I own every book that she has written or contributed to, and have a dedicated shelf for her work in my personal library. Koko Nishizuka keeps the Japanese flavor of the piece, while communicating the universal lessons learned from generosity and open-heartedness. And it is that strong-willed button-uppedness that both engaged and repelled me.
